At Alta, we help each client attain complete restoration of his or her individual range of movement, strength, and health utilizing state of the art procedures and treatments of orthopedic and neurological based diagnoses. The partners, with over 40 years of combined experience, offer the most current and optimum treatment. We require our licensed team of therapists and trainers to participate in ongoing education in order to employ the most effective strategies for recovery.
TREATMENTS/SERVICES
Upon receiving a doctor’s referral and diagnosis, we perform a detailed 60-minute evaluation, including differential diagnosis and analysis of posture, movement, gait, and functionality. An individual program is devised in accordance with the doctor’s diagnosis, our evaluation, and the patient’s abilities and lifestyle. A therapist specializing in the diagnosis is then assigned for the duration of treatment. Most appointments require a minimum of 30 minutes but may be up to 1 hour, depending upon the prescribed care. An accompanying exercise plan is prescribed to enhance and hasten the patient’s rehabilitation. Referring doctors are advised of his/her patient’s progress on a regular basis to ensure the patient receives the best treatment possible.

PERSONAL TRAINING
Mark Merchant has developed a clear training philosophy over his 15-year career in fitness training, based firmly in research and science. Mark first analyzes the client’s patterns of movement and builds a program that corrects the areas compromised by injury or inactivity. He then develops a secondary training program focused on strengthening and conditioning the body in order to support the recovered injuries or corrections. Mark’s program guards against further deterioration of the body’s joints, muscles, and bones while simultaneously enhancing performance using closed-chain, multi-joint movements (exercises that works the joints and originate from the ground). His approach is specifically designed to work in conjunction with a physical therapist and will protect the client against future injuries.
GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® by Juliu Horvath
GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® training combines the gentle and fluid movements found in dance, swimming, gymnastics, and the meditative martial art Tai Chi. After suffering a serious injury that ended his ballet career, Romanian dancer Juliu Horvath created this system in order to restore his body and stay physically active. The guided exercise, supported by a training system consisting of weights and pulleys, improves core strength, flexibility, mobility, circulatory movement, and bone density. It is a low impact and gradual practice, allowing those with limited stamina, injury, or obesity to exercise in a safe and soothing manner.
